Bing deal with Twitter and Facebook

I think finding real-time status updates on Bing search engine is a pretty interesting method. It means that I can get the latest updates of my friends on twitter or facebook without having an account on those sites, which going to make more people be in sync with the latest information of whatever they are interested in. however, I believe there will be a huge privacy issue.

This deal could benefit Twitter and Facebook because real time status updates would be easier to find. In addition, it would be available in multiple places and easy to access. So, more people can access the same information. But again what if the user doesn’t want to share his/her updates “privacy”.

I believe this deal will have some impact on Google’s market share but not by that much. Google will continue to be the best on market especially because they already have something similar, which is Google Social Search http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2009/10/introducing-google-social-search-i.html

  1. The thing that I like about Google's social search is that it is based off of your gmail contacts list. I think this could eliminate some of the privacy issues that Bing's social search would bring up.
