New Bing deal

I think that this deal is a very interesting move on Twitter and Facebook's part. As I read through the article they did not say they were going to make a deal exclusively with Microsoft. So they will receive benefits from the deal with Microsoft and can turn around and make a deal with Google, and receive even more benefits.

Many may view this as Microsoft trying to take over. In reality, these deals with Microsoft and Google just allow us as a society to view more information and do not necessarily give either company more control. The real companies that are coming out of these deals in great shape are Twitter and Facebook. They are able to give their websites even more view in the online digital world. Future websites may have more Facebook and Twitter parts inserted into them in order to come up on searches.

I read a few articles last week about how people are becoming more worried about privacy in terms of their Facebook, Twitter, and MySpace accounts. Many people are actually getting rid of their accounts due to this fear. So by Bing and Google creating this deal, these people will have even more to worry about. This will put everyone using these sites at an even greater risk of having their privacy violated. Both of these companies have walked the line of what is giving out too much information about their users. It is very obvious that both companies do not really care about the privacy of their users. They are just looking to see how much money they can make off of the vast amount of information they have accumulated. If these deals successfully go through, web developers will be making Facebook and Twitter a bigger part of their sites and have them become functional parts.

  1. I think you're right about people looking into the exclusivity too much, because as you said, the companies can turn around and partner with Google for more exposure (as if they need it) and cash. Privacy is the number 1 issue here.
