Well, I believe that nowadays the standard size of a website is perfect, and contacts are easy to read (am talking about GOOD websites). In addition, tabs, navbars, left/right columns are helping the user to use the site in such a simple and convince way. So, I think that the size of websites will remain the same.

On the other hand, I think new technology will help to improve the design of a website (Not the size). Future websites could include technologies that we are not familiar with today. Before it was impossible to include videos into your site, but with the advance of technology, developers could easily include videos, photos, chat, etc) while remaining the fast and high-quality performance of the site.

Also I believe that embedding programs into a site would improve the website design and function. Like with Google maps, now you can just insert the maps into your website.

I saw this video about a new online tool from Google called “Google Wave - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6pgxLaDdQw ” I think inserting Google wave into a website would take websites into the next level (especially social networking websites).

  1. I think what you said is a good way of explaining it. The technology will change the way we interact with website content. It is very hard to figure out what the technology will be deacades from now, but it will likely involve more and more things we do from our daily lives.

  2. I wish I had known about the 10 minute video your link takes me to before i watched the whole hour and a half one... but i am utterly impressed with google wave. Just like you said,it will take social networking sites to the next level, probably connecting different sites like Facebook,Twitter, Blogger, etc. into one big mash-up of social networking content.

  3. I like how you mention the possibility of emerging technological advances in the future that may effect web design, layout, size and functionality. It is an interesting topic and one that will inarguably shape the way in which people of the future implement the web.
